Blinded by the Rose

This was a stock image by this wonderful artist. I found it a long time ago and saved it for reference. Finally when I got the chance to draw it, I found out the artist left..or..something. They disappeared . Whomever you are, I am sorry if I misused your stock because your jornals are empty and I couldn't find any rules of usage. Nevertheless, I give you the credit for the reference. I wish you would come back, you had a beautiful gallery! Hope everything is well with you.

Black paper, pastel. Uhm..not much else to say. About 4 hours (surprising!! Usually takes me some 8 hours to do a completed piece). It started as a bored drawing but then it turned into something I really enjoyed doing. I haven't done pastels and black paper in a long time. Plus, I ran out of my old pastel paper and now have a new kind (I couldn't find the same type again). And I am rather happy with the result. Heck, it is better than I expected. It was a good time to just rest.

I called it what I did because I feel like there is competition between the flower and the woman. Who is more beautiful? I really cannot tell, although it looks like the woman is penetrating the flowers with her eyes. Yet in the title there is also a play on words. Rose is also a woman's name so..which rose/Rose is being blinded by the beauty of the other? It is an eternal competition of who is more beautiful.
